Of FUTURISTIC jap fan, MAKING BUSINESS EASIER, AND HOT POT
Alibaba Netpreneur Program Day 1 was a blast! The knowledge jammed into our brains was just too much to comprehend. However so, the info we gained was just too valuable. Here we go!
Upon the dividing of groups, I was gathered with a group of highly professional and “atas” people across all industries. We have a super 51 year old businessman Ah Weng (oldest in our group) that is selling watches massively up north. We have the Group CEO of GHL, Danny, who is doing crazy Asia level payment solutions with over 1000 employees. Miss Amelia of Getha, Malaysia’s homegrown premium mattress company, Jee Von of Fipper! Feel the Rubber! Mr.Tan of TBM, one of the top electrical appliance store in Klang Valley. Alfred handling chemical productions in Ipoh, Angelyn who handles board materials in Kedah, and lastly Piravin who handles food ingredient exports.
From here, we were tasked in creating our group name after going through a mini activity on gathering what all of us have in common. The answer to that? All of us had hot pot just recently haha! However funny this may sound like, it actually gave us alot of insights on how a successful ecosystem would succeed through the workings of hot pot!
Hot.Pot Group! Everything that makes a perfect Hot Pot, makes a perfect Business!
The Pot + Soup Base : The infrastructure and foundation of everything.
The Ingredients : The main “meat” to keep the business running.
The Utensils : The correct “timing” to cook the correct outcome.
The Fire : The burning passion that all of us must have.
The Sauces : To complement each other and complete the taste!
There we have it, team HOT.POT! We hope to leave with our bellies full!
Having lunch in Alibaba’s headquarters are no short of digital. Everything here is phone out, swipe and go! What really blew my mind was this in particular, an image recognition device that detects Economy Mix Rice (Jap Fan)! The machine literally knows what kind of food was taken on the plate, and the user was then charged accordingly! Fascinating!
After lunch, we were brought into their meeting hall where leaders across the world has surprisingly set foot before here to conduct meetings relevant to the world in regards to commerce.
The most famous motto of our master in commerce, Mr.Jack Ma, preached about Alibaba’s goal “To Make It Easier To Do Business Everywhere”. This has pushed Alibaba and it’s team to stick to their core values, and therefore cultivating an immense culture throughout their entire ecosystem! Customer 1st, Employee 2nd, Investors 3rd. That was the statement Jack Ma wanted to spread to people across the company, and across their customers. A happy customer would always make your company successful!
Alibaba makes it very straightforward. This is a new sharing economy that we are living in. Either all of us collaborate and work with each other to make things happen, or lets just let Malaysia stay many years behind China then.
A small joke we had in our group was how they like to refer Malaysian Businessmen to be “The Typical China Businessman Mindset”. It’s funny because if you talk about the current China Businessman, you are talking about people who are already working towards the future and beyond, with mindsets way more advance than most Malaysian businesses out there. The way forward, is indeed the way of adapted digital change.
Check out what happened during the other days in my trip!
